News article from The St. Clair County Republican, Osceola, St. Clair, MO, Thursday, June 22, 1922:

Last Friday's issue of the Kansas City Journal contained pictures of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. DeLozier of Adir (sic), Oklahoma, together with the attached comment in regard to their married life. Same is reproduced here for the reason they were formerly residents of St. Clair county. County Treasurer E. M. Terry, when showed the clipping observed, "yes, that is Mr. and Mrs. DeLozier. I used to work for Mr. DeLozier when I was a boy." The article in question was a telegram from Adir which read: One hundred and twenty eight relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. DeLozier, who live near here, brought their dinners and helped the pioneers celebrate their sixty-second wedding anniversary last Sunday. Mr. DeLozier is eighty-three years old and Mrs. DeLozier is seventy-six. He was born in St. Clair county, Mo., and his wife in Henry county, Mo. They came to Oklahoma thirty-two years ago from Nebraska. They have eleven children living, six of whom were present. They have sixty-one grandchildren, and thirty-eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Miss Ethel Lee Mead, one of the granddaughters who was present, celebrated her 21st birthday on the day of this anniversary.

(Note: James H. DeLozier married Eliza Dobson in June 1860 in either Henry or St. Clair County, probably in Henry Co. They are found in the 1860 census twice, first in Springfield, Henry Co., enumerated on June 15th, showing him as James DeLozier and her as Eliza Dobson, then again on July 30th in Polk Twp., St. Clair Co., showing them as James and Eliza DeLozier, ages 21 and 14 respectively. In 1850, James DeLozier was enumerated in St. Clair Co., the son of Edward H. and Catherine DeLozier. In 1870 he and Eliza were in Springfield, Henry Co., Missouri, in 1875 they were in Liberty, Linn Co., Kansas, then in 1880 they were in Butler Twp., St. Clair Co., Missouri, in 1900 in the Cherokee Nation, Oklahoma, in 1910 and 1920 they were in Adair, Mayes Co., Oklahoma.)
CHAMPION GRANDMA..Eliza DeLozier received the second award as "Honored American Mother", known locally as "Grandma Championship"..The title was offered by Cappers Weekly to the mother who had the largest number of direct living desendants as of October 1, 1937..Readers were asked to "nominate" any grandmother among relatives or acquaintances who had an unusually large number of living descendants...She had 16 children, eight boys and eight girls, of whom nine are living....Supplied by Contributor Kathy....
