Mary Kathryn (Barringer) Genga, age 82, of Hamden, and previously of the Lordship section of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Adamo "Blackie" Genga whom she married in 1945, entered eternal life on Monday, November 3, 2008 at the Hospital of Saint Raphael, New Haven. Mrs. Genga was born June 3, 1926 in Ada, Pontotoc County, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Eddie Clifford and Opal Leota (Daggs) Barringer, and was a Stratford resident for 62 years. Survivors include a son, two grandsons, and one great-grandson. Additional survivors include: one sister, Violet (Barringer) Jones; of California; a brother, Eddie William Barringer, of Oklahoma; two aunts, Daisey (Daggs) Sanseverino and Zelda (Daggs) Sanseverino, both of Oklahoma; a cousin, Alice Smith Warren of Dallas, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Genga was predeceased by her brother Wallace Everett Barringer. Cherished by her family, Mrs. Genga was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an outstanding cook, an avid gardener, and an accomplished hostess. She will long be remembered for her Southern charm and hospitality. With her poodle, Coco, Mrs. Genga often accompanied her husband on business travel throughout the United States and Europe, but was truly at her happiest when surrounded by family and friends at her Lordship home of 50 years. Friends are invited to attend Mrs. Genga's funeral on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 10:15 a.m. by meeting directly at Our Lady of Peace Church, Lordship Road, Lordship, for a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial. A reception with refreshments in the parish hall will follow. Interment in Saint Michael's Cemetery is private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Genga's memory to Our Lady of Peace Church, 10 Ivy Street, Stratford, CT 06615. The William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford, is in care of arrangements.
