Carl R. Wood, Sr. of Pensacola, FL, fell asleep in Jesus Christ on June 22, 2007. Carl moved to Pensacola in 1961. He was a Fiber and Textile Engineer, and a spirit filled Christian. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1941 at the age of 17. He fought in the South Pacific and is a World War II Veteran.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Mollie and Ransom Cornelius Wood, and his son Barry Dean Wood.
Carl is survived by his wife, Winnie Wood; sons, Carl Richard (Dick) Wood, Jr. of Pensacola, FL, Guy Dirk Wood of Cape Town, South Africa, Brian Kevin Wood of Gulf Breeze, FL; daughter, Tina Jean Wood-Tyrone of Gulf Breeze, FL; brother, Charles Henry Wood of Winston Salem, NC; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service with military honors will be Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery.
