Metta Lorraine Lewis was born April 4, 1924 in Carden's Bluff, Hampton, Carter County, Tennessee. She was one of a dozen children, all were born in Carden's Bluff, Hampton, Carter County, Tennessee and from what I understand, in the family farmhouse. Her siblings were:
Corrine Cora 1/5/1905-5/24/1995
Mamie Leone 11/15/1907-11/22/1900
Lafayette 3/17/1910-1/8/1920
Dollie 12/15/1911-8/26/1912
John 'Jack' Hunter 4/12/1913-8/26/1952
Paul Edward 1/29/1915-10/1969
Harold W 9/26/1917-11/16/1968
Donald 'Elgie' 4/27/1921-12/6/1994
Roy Clifford 4/18/1927-10/24/1927
Living 1/27/1929
Jack Spurgeon 4/9/1931-9/5/1998

She married Billy Fred Robinson, Sr on Dec 18, 1904 in Elizabethton, Carter County, Tennessee. She is the mother of three children, her only daughter, Lynda Kay Robinson Thomas, preceded her in death (9/24/1952-5/16/1998 in Kingsport, Sullivan County, Tennessee).

She was my mother-in-law and I spent a lot of time with her trying to get her to talk about her family. She was a very reserved woman who felt the past was the past and should be left there. She did tell me a little about her parents Nannie Blevins & Lawson Lewis and shared a few photos with me.

She went blind from an undiagnosed brain tumor and died Aug 28, 2017, about 6 weeks after she became ill. Sadly, the tumor wasn't discovered until she was admitted to the hospital and it was too late to operate.

She was a devout Bible reader and her faith helped her to remain stoic and hold fast to her belief in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
