Lizzie Mae Johnson was born on May 30, 1927, in St. Maurice, LA and passed away July 10, 2019, in Natchitoches.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mary Ida Fedrick Brown; her husband, Ford Johnson; brothers, Talmadge Brown, Dwight Brown, Earnest Brown, Buddy Brown, and Arthur Roy Brown; and a sisters, Beatrice “Cotton” Lonadier, Rosey Bell Tingle, Louise Waters, and Nelda Ann Martin.
She is survived by her brother, Garland Brown; her sons, Wayne Gourdon and wife Peggy and Johnny Gourdon and wife Penny; her grandchildren, Jessie Gourdon, Michael Gourdon and wife Sarah, April Gourdon, Brandi Pesina and husband Daniel; her great-grandchildren, Elyzabeth “Lizzie” Gourdon, Olivia Hatley, Laci Gourdon, Faith Gourdon, Cutter Gourdon, and Johnny “JD” Pesina. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
Everyone who knew Lizzie loved her, she always had the best stories of her 92 years on earth. We all learned so much from her and will be forever grateful for the knowledge she passed to us. She was an excellent cook and never followed a written recipe, she would always say “watch and learn”. She had a deep love for animals, especially her dog, Bocephus. Bocephus was her baby and she cared for him better than she cared for herself. Her greatest love was for her family and home, and she was an excellent provider. Although at times she was very stubborn, she was always genuine and that why we loved her so much. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10 am on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches. Burial will follow at Clear Lake Cemetery near Goldonna, LA. The family will receive friends on Saturday the 20th from 8 am until service time at Blanchard-St. Denis.
