Neil H. Burge, 84, of Batesville died Tuesday, October 29, 1996. Born October 30, 1912, he was the son of Silas & Dana McClure Burge. He was a retired employee of Mack Farm Dairy & served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a lifelong member & deacon of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Neil N. Burge of Blytheville; 2 daughters, Betty Cockrill & mary Farmer, both of Batesville; a brother, Lawless Burge of Little Rock; 3 sisters, Eula Dethrow of Little Rock, Myrtle Hobbs of Winter Springs, Florida & Pauline Miller of Wichita, Kansas; 8 grandchildren, Tammy Gavin, Alan Cockrill, Doyle
Cockrill & Samuel Farmer, all of Batesville, Kenny Burge & Jon Bell of Blytheville, Keith Burge of Pocahontas & Stephanie McDaniel of Jonesboro; 4 great-grandchildren, Matt Gavin, Rachael Gavin, Meagan Cockrill & Hayden Cockrill, all of Batesville. He was receded in death by his parents & his wife of 52 years, Nadine Burge. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. R. A. Bone & the Rev. Mike Manning officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Batesville Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Kenny Burge, Keith Burge, Peter Gavin, Sam Farmer, Mack Tucker, Gerald Tucker & Clarence Tucker. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. John Scott & Dr. Robert V. Baker.
