HIRAM S. HURST DIED SATURDAY WAS A PIONEER RESIDENT OF PUTNAM. WAS 82 YEARS OF AGE

Hiram S. Hurst, one of the pioneer farmers of south-eastern Putnam county died at his home in Jefferson township early Saturday morning at the advanced age of 82 years. His death was do to his old age, he having failed gradually for some time.

Mr. Hurst was one of the few older men who was born in the early history of Putnam county and who spent his entire live within the county. He was the son of Burton Hurst, who entered land from the government in Marion Township about one hundred years ago. Mr. Hurst was bon on a farm in Marion Township a short distance east of Mt. Meridian on the National road. He has spent most of this life-time in Jefferson Township, where he was one of the extensive owners of some fine farming lands. Mr. Hurst was married three times and is survived by the widow, three daughters Mrs. Henry Vaughan, Mrs. Cosner and Mrs. O.J. Larkin, and two sons, Frank Hurst and Rollie Hurst. He also has the following brothers and sisters, Pleasant Hurst, another pioneer settler of Jefferson Township, Joseph C. Hurst of Shattuck, Okla., Harmon Hurst of Martinsville, Mrs. Frank Meek and Miss Emma A. Hurst of near Mt. Meridian. Mrs. Meek, Miss Hurst and another sister who died a short time ago at Martinsville comprised a set of triplets who all lived to be sixty years old.

The funeral was held Monday morning at 11 o'clock at the home the services being in charge of Rev Willis E. Gill. Burial was in the Mill Creek cemetery.
