Lemuel Charles Hanes- third son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex B. Hanes of Seneca departed this life at the home of his parents in this city Saturday, July 17th. Mr. Hanes accompanied by his family came to Seneca from their home in Illinois about a month ago in the hope that the change of climate might ve beneficial to his health. He had been bedfast two weeks. Death was due to leakage of the heart.

Mr. Hanes was born in Henton, Shelby county, Illinois on July 5, 1868. He lived at that place until he was thirteen when his parents came west to Nebraska where they resided for three years, when they came to Seneca. Seventeen years ago, Mr.Hanes went back to the old Illinois home and he was married there on June 26, 1898 to Mrs. Fannie Dilley. Three children were born to them, Alex, Inez and Gladys. His widow, children, parents, three brothers and a sister, survive him. The brothers are Will, Tom and George Hanes and the sister, Mrs. Mary Brummett of Seneca. Mr. Hanes was a member of the Redman Lodge of Henton.

Funeral services were conducted from the parental home of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Hanes on Monday afternoon by Rev. A. A. Moore, pastor of the Congregational church, and interment was made in the city cemetery.
