US Congressman. A native of LaGrange, Missouri, he served in the United States Army during World War II. Elected to represent Indiana's 7th District in the US House of Representatives, he served from 1949 to 1951. He was defeated in 1946, and 1950. A Democrat, he also served as the Secretary of the Indiana Democratic Party from 1959 to 1966, Delegate to the Democratic National Convention from Indiana in 1964, and as a Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana from 1966 to 1986.
