Chief Manning retired from Old Fort Fire Department and was a United States Navy Veteran. Mr. Manning was born the son of the late Daniel Crane Manning and Alice Bott Manning and was the husband of Elizabeth Ann Manning. After graduating from Boonton High School in 1958 he served in the United States Navy from 1958 until 1963 in Japan as a Communications Technician for two and half years. He attended Army Language School from 1959 to 1960 and retired from Prudential Insurance. He was a long time Little League Coach in New Jersey and Summerville. He was a member of Franklin Fire Dept. since 1965 serving as Chief in 1980 and 1981. Mr. Manning was a lifetime member of the New Jersey Fireman's Association and served fifteen years as a Board Member for Old Fort Fire Dept. in Ladson, SC. He was an avid outdoorsman, golfer and enjoyed NASCAR racing. He was Roman Catholic. He died at his home after a lengthy illness at age 66.
