LEE EDWIN STIERWALT, beloved father, brother, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully in Colorado Springs on February 3, 2016, at the age of 73. Lee was born in Lima, Ohio on June 6, 1942 to Max and LaVerne Stierwalt, both of whom preceded him in death.

Lee is survived by brother, Greg (Mieko) Stierwalt, long-time friend Barbara Dallemand, daughter Gena (Craig) Holbeck, daughter Roni (Trent) Ahlenius, daughter Brandi (Brian) Brewster, son David (Amy) Stierwalt, and eight grandchildren Mitchell, Tori, Ashley, Kalia, Eli, Lana, Tana and Kyra and last but not least his faithful friend and dog Ginger.

Lee received his Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry/Math from Muskingham College in Ohio and continued his graduate studies at the University of Colorado and the University of Kansas. He lived in Ohio, Kansas, California and Colorado.

Lee worked as a chemist with Foremost Foods, chief lab tech with Scripps Clinic & Research and materials tester/chemist for Lincoln DeVore before securing a position with Colorado Springs Utilities as a chemist for the power plants analyzing materials such as coal and cooling water. He retired as Department Chemist in 2004 after almost 40 years of service. He was a member of the American Chemical Society.

After moving to Colorado Springs in June 1971, Lee and his family joined Redeemer Lutheran Church and he remained a faithful member until his death. He enjoyed ushering, counting offering and other activities at the church.

He enjoyed sailing, hiking and nature, music, travelling, reading and especially spending time with family and friends.
