Birdie was born on May 18, 1925 in Kell, Illinois, the son of Bird and Julia Wilkins. Birdie served as a U.S. Marine and retired from PPG. He and Helen were Youth Directors for 30 years at Westside Church of the Nazarene. He was a strong Christian and dedicated to his loving wife.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of 74 years; son, Richard V. (Denise) Wilkins of Mt. Zion; grandchildren, Chad (Sue) Wilkins of Dawson, Illinois, Jeff (Brenda) Wilkins of Decatur and Wendy Woods of Marlow, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Britanie, Adam, Thane, Larry, Macey, Kyle, Zach, Keeton and Shayna; 10 great-great grandchildren and brothers, Bennett and Darryl.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stan Wilkins; sister, Joyce and brother, Louie.
