Helen was gifted with a beautiful voice. She sang locally and at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. She was an executive secretary for Hearst publications. Helen married Bruno Battochi, a local farmer, and raised 2 sons and 2 daughters. She established Remsen Farms in Monsey during September 1970 and operated it until 1997. She was known as Midge to family and friends.
Helen is survived by sons Gregory P. Battochi of Pomona, James A. Battochi of Wesley Hills and daughter Loretta Battochi Horenstein of New City. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Two nieces, Eileen Hamilton and Gail Reardon, and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Shankey, husband Bruno Battochi, and a daughter, Marguerite Cheeseman who passed away on June 2, 2011.
