She was 76 years old. Shirley was born August 21, 1936 in Birch Tree, Missouri to Paul and Gladys Mittge. She grew up in Missouri and Raymond, WA. She is a graduate of Valley High School and Grays Harbor Community College. Shirley worked at Grays Harbor Community Hospital and Harbors Home Health as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She attended Elma Alliance Church.

Shirley enjoyed sleepovers and vacationing with her grandchildren. Shirley also enjoyed swimming, camping, snow sledding, reading, helping others, outings to the casino, and shopping with her daughter. Two sons, Jim and his wife, Debbie and Dan, survive her. Shirley was born into a family of 9 children. She is survived by brothers; Eldon and Joe and sisters; Marie, Pauline and Jenny Dee. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren including: Mitchael, Tasha, Abigail, Esther and David. Her parents, Paul & Gladys Mittge, sisters, precede Shirley in death: Carole and Edith and brother, Merrill.

A celebration of Shirley's life will begin at 11 AM Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Elma Alliance Church. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Elma Alliance Church Food bank.
