Glen D. Hite, 90, passed away Thursday, July 4th, in Abilene. He was born August 26, 1928 in Topeka, the son of Garlan D. and Doris A. (Anderson) Hite. Growing up in Abilene Glen attended local schools and graduated from Abilene High School with the class of 1947. He was a self employed barber and began barbering with his father, Red Hite, then Red Davis and Bud Stammeyer before retiring in 1989. June 17, 1948, Glen married Bon Burchard in Abilene. All of their married life was spent in Abilene. She preceded him in death February 21, 2009. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing and traveling. Glen was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Genny Ginder. He is survived by: a daughter, Gloria (Elvin) Bombardier of Abilene; two sons, Richard (Sue) Hite of Chapman, G.D. (Cindy) Hite of Abilene; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. The family has chosen cremation. The family will receive friends 5:30 - 6:30 PM Thursday July 11th at the Danner Funeral Home. A graveside memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Friday, July 12th at the Abilene Cemetery with Pastor Jennifer Stuck officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Abilene Cemetery. The family suggests memorials in his name be made to the Abilene Public Library or the Abilene Senior Citizens Center. They may be left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
