Warren S. Meverden, 75, Green Bay, met our Lord on Thursday morning, Sept. 7, 2000 while at a local nursing home. Warren was born April 6, 1925 in Green Bay to the late Rufus and Bertha (Jahnke) Meverden. He joined the U.S. Navy and served in Europe during WWII. Warren was employed by Charmin Paper Mill for many years before taking a position with the Press-Gazette until he retired in 1987. He will be remembered by his family as someone who enjoyed hunting, fishing and dancing. Warren is survived by his two daughters and one son-in-law; Lynne Hendzel, Green Bay and Julie and Bob Saatzer, Lancaster, Calif.; four grandchildren, Lori Steinmetz, Green Bay; Joanna Bach, New Orleans, La.; Jeff Bach, Houston, Texas; Heidi (Jeff Brabbit) Green Bay and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Marian; his son, Warren, Jr/Michael and his brothers and sisters. Friends may call at Malcore Funeral Home, University Ave. and Baird Street, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday. Funeral, Monday, 5 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Larry Canavera officiating. Burial at Fort Howard Memorial Park. Warren's family extends a very special thank you to the James Meverden family and Warren's nieces and nephews for all their love and dedication shown over the many years for the care of their father.
