NEW MARSHFIELD — Darrell “Skip” Hillen, age 79, of New Marshfield, died Thursday evening, Dec. 22, 2011, at VA Medical Center, Chillicothe. Born July 3, 1932, in Chauncey, he was the son of the late Clarence and Clara Champlain Hillen.
A graduate of The Plains High School, he retired from Athens Mold and Machine. He had also worked at Kasler’s Dairy. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with one Silver Service Star. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7174, The Plains and K.T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda and Beulah; and three brothers, Russell, Bernard and Bill.
A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, 1 p.m., at New Marshfield Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by K.T. Crosen Post 21 American Legion, VFW Post 3477 and VFW Post 9893 Honor Guards.
