Thomas Bernhardt III, age 71, passed away on June 25, 2019 in his home in Arizona after a long battle with Heart Disease. He went peacefully in his sleep. Thomas was a veteran of Vietnam where he earned many ribbons and medals. He was a Boilermaker. He was the beloved son of Thomas J. Bernhardt Sr. and Anne Bernhardt and the beloved brother of three sisters and three brothers. Thomas was the loving father to Diana (Ken) Graczyk, Amanda (Javier Herrera) Bernhardt and Thomas (Monica) Bernhardt IV. Stepfather to Clemons (Jamie) Gizynski, Denise (Sergio Medina) Gizynski and Timothy (Christina Martinez) Gizynski. Loving grandfather to Jackquelyn Talley, Heather Talley who preceded him in death, Steven Talley, Abby Graczyk, Luis (Josette) Bernhardt, Alissa Almaguer, Marcus Herring, Thomas Bernhardt V, Elijah Bernhardt and Celeste Bernhardt. Great grandfather to Jada Brooks and Jazmin Brooks. He was also survived by many more grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Friends are invited to meet with the family Tuesday, July 9, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home.
