John Franklin Adams, son of Benjamin F. and Brazilia Holt Adams, was born in Texas on October 22, 1842. His parents (both b. SC) are listed in the 1850 Census, Shelby County, with children Mary E., John F., Thomas C., Sarah A., Jesse C., and Calhoun, all b. TX. John F. Adams enlisted at Shelbyville on April 2, 1862, and served until the end of the Civil War.

Mr. Adams married Margaret E. Biggars (b. TX July 1846) about 1866, and she preceded him in death. Names of their children listed in Shelby County censuses include Henry F., Ada D., Emma, John, Annie, Margaret, Morgan, and Ferlow. In 1910 John F. Adams was living in the household of Henry and Sallie Walters and their 7 children.
