In loving memory of Bruce, 1938 - 2019

Obituary,
The Waterloo Region Record, 2 July 2019:
BECKER, Bruce Robert "I leave the past behind and with hands outstretched to whatever lies ahead I go straight for the goal - my reward the honour of my high calling by God in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:13-14) Passed away peacefully at the Parkwood Mennonite Home on Thursday, June 27th with family by his side. Lovingly remembered by Pauline, his wife of 53 years, his children Kimberely and her husband Ken Griffin of Kitchener, Virginia and her husband Ray Patullo of Lang Lang, Australia, and Matthew Becker and his wife Lana of Kitchener, and grandchildren Katelyn, Kristopher, and Kassandra Griffin; Joshua, Jacob, Jordan, and Jesse Patullo; and Ethan Becker. Also survived by his sister Barb, brother-in-law Ron Schlegel, three nephews, and their families. Predeceased by his parents Max and Florence Becker, and his sister Linda. Bruce was employed as a mechanical engineer at Uniroyal Tire, while also hobby farming in Washington, Ontario for many years. Upon the tire plant's closure, he then enjoyed travelling to install that machinery in a new factory in China. Bruce grew up attending Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church, his faith in God inspiring his fondly remembered three years of voluntary service with the Mennonite Central Committee in Paraguay. He later became a faithful and active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. A kind, generous man, Bruce possessed an unwavering faith and positive outlook in all circumstances that is an inspiration to us all. The family is grateful for the prayers for Bruce throughout his lengthy illness and for the compassionate care of the staff at Parkwood Mennonite Home since October 2013. A private family service was followed by interment at Mount Hope Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Mennonite Central Committee or Lutheran Bible Translators would be appreciated by the family and can be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King Street South, Waterloo at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445. "When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration, and there proclaim 'My God, how great Thou art!"
