In 1951- 1968 Loren worked for Vet clinic on State St in Salt Lake and at Salt Lake zoo.
With a love for animals he had since childhood Loren and Maxine raised Bulldogs, Black Labs, Pembroke Corgi and Scotish Terriers.
In 1958 Loren became a Prof. AKC Licensed All Breed Dog Handler. He was one of the top handlers in Utah and the Northwest regions. He was well known and like by other dog handlers through out the dog world.
In 1970 Loren became an American Kennel Club judge. His judging took him all over the US. He was asked to judge at Westminster Kennel Club. He had to turn them down when it conflict with another much smaller club's show he agreed to judge the same week. He was respected his judging by other judges and all who showed under him.
During 1968 Loren became an USDA meat inspector in Utah. While working for the government he moved his family to Oregon in fall 1973. It was here Loren love was to go Salmon fishing. While fishing one day he came very close of drowning when he sliped on the ice and fell in . After that he bought his Salmon at the store.
It was Lung Cancer that would end up taking Loren's life during this time he became a spokesman against smoking.
