Joan Lea Murray, of Dobson, NC, a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on January 10, 2014 at her daughter's home. She was born February 13, 1953, in Claremont, NH to the late Clayton and Anita (Leckner) Murray.
She was a retired CNA. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Jerry Murray.
Surviving are two daughters, Angela Abbas of Dobson, NC and Analysa Johnson of Elkin, NC; four sons, Shawn and Michael Hamel of King, NC, Gary Carpenter of Vermont and Chad of New Hampshire; also seven grandchildren, Nicqui Perry, Samantha Abbas, Delbert Abbas, Elizabeth Carpenter, Alyssa Hamel, Morgan Hamel, Madyson Johnson; and a great-grandchild, Bradley Perry; seven sisters, Glenora Bennet, Vicky Goodhue, Shirley DeCoteau, Sheila McKinney, Margaret Murray, Gail Vernazza and Elizabeth Gierko; and three brothers, Robert, Jack and Douglas Murray; and many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
A memorial service was held in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, NC with Rev. Bill Jenkins and Rev. Allen Jenkins conducting the services.
