James worked for many years at Climax Milling Co. and later retired from the FRM Store.
He was a member of Black Jack Baptist Church.
He was a gardener.
When baseball season rolled around, the Atlanta Braves were always a topic of conversation. It may come as a surprise that James was an avid fan of wrestling, wrestling of the Gordon Solie variety.

Survivors include:
two daughters and a son-in-law
a son
a sister
two grandchildren
a great-grandson

He was preceded in death by:
his parents, Willie Henry and Armelia Knight Bishop
his wife of 54 years, Virginia Mae Miller Bishop
his sisters, Nell Hatcher, Inez Thomas, and Sarah Voncile Palmer.

The funeral service was held on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Dean officiating. Interment was at Black Jack Baptist Church Cemetery.
