Richard is the son of Henry Mason ROSE (b: 28 May 1813) and Nancy Wilmuth BENSON (b: 4 January 1819 in Robertson County, Tennessee). He married first to Nancy A. CRAFTON (b: 15 February 1853 in Rutherford Co., Tennessee) on the 8th of September 1869 in Weakley Co., Tennessee. Nancy is buried at the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Obion Co, Tennessee. He married second to Calvin Ida SLAUGHTER (b: 20 JUL 1863) on the 22nd of January 1885. Richard served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War in Co.H, 7th TN Cav.
