ELEANOR WAIT, maiden name CISNE was the daughter of MARY ROSE and her husband STEPHEN ALAN CISNE. The family name was originally spelled DE CESSNA, shortened to CESSNA, and Stephen changed the spelling to CISNE because he manufactured farm tools, specifically sickles and found it easier to label the sickles with CISNE than CESSNA. This family is well documented in the genealogical book HOUSE OF CESSNA by Howard CESSNA. STEPHEN CISNE is also mentioned in various histories of the Ohio River Valley because he owned a mill.

ELEANOR CISNE WAIT, according to family records, was the fifth child born to MARY and Stephen CISNE. She was born 27 May 1818 in Bedford County, PA. The last child born in Bedford County, PA was her sister AGNES EMMA CIENE, b. 13 Sep 1821.
