She was a businesswoman, owning a grocery store in her hometown of Steelton, and was a marvelous baker in the eyes of all who tasted her cakes, cookies, and brownies. She was drawn to music and was the organist/pianist for her small hometown Methodist Church. In her final years at the Consulate Nursing Home, she could be counted on to attend the many musical programs and to enjoy every minute. She had a reputation for her quick wit and sense of humor. Conversations with her always led to a smile as she offered some humorous comments to liven the discussion! She enjoyed writing letters to friends and family and was always quick to send cards of encouragement or condolences. To her, a carefully crafted, hand-written note was the best way to communicate. She remained a life-long member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Steelton, PA. Locally, she attended Williamsburg Christian Church.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, July 3, at Nelsen Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Visitation will be from 12 pm-2:00 pm with the service following at 2:00 pm. Burial will be in Harrisburg, PA at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens on Friday, July 12, at 10:00 am.
