He was the son of Lakey (Jeffers) and Moses Brown. His Death Certificate states he was single at the time of death, had been a laborer, and died of tuberculosis. This is partially incorrect as he was a widower at the time of his death. His wife, Elisabeth (Lawson) Brown preceded him in death by several years and is buried in the same cemtery. They were the parents of at least three children, Silas McKinley, Ida (died at birth) and Annie Brown. This cemetery is also known as the Lawson and Brown Cemetery at Cordell.
