Elizabeth Francis, Carroll, daughter of Matthew and Mary Carroll, was born in Queens County, Ireland, Feb. 17, 1842: She came to America , on Nov. 16, 1866, and was united in marriage to Mr. Bernard Abbott on May 30 1869. To union, were born four children namely : Maurice A. of Chicago; John J. of Wyoming , Ill., Daniel W. of Princeton, Ill,, and Mary E. at home all of whom they were permitted to see grown to manhood and womanhood enjoying the highest respect of all. In her lifetime she had the comfort of the knowledge that her three sons were all established - in pleasant homes of their own and occupying prominent positions with railroad companies. She leaves besides these to mourn their irreparable loss a ' devoted husband, two grandchildren and a host of warm hearted friends.
This dear lady was all that the tenms wife, mother and friend imply. Home was her kingdom, no place on earth was half so dear to her. But yet, on many a night in years gone by she might have been found in the homes of others, soothing the weary heart and cooling the fevered brow of some pallid form stretched upon a bed of pain. As long as she herself experienced the blessing of health heir thotfulness for others less fortunate never ceased for a moment, and during her last long illness many had occasion to remember this and gave cheerfully, unsparingly of all that lay within their power to ease her suffering.
Notwithstanding the fact that Mr. and Mrs. Abbott's married iife was very quiet, it was one of true bliss and the mutual love existing between them was transmitted to the children who came to bless their home. It can be truthfully said that their family life, thruout, has been such, as might well be coveted by anyone. It was home indeed, and it seems providential that the circle should remain so long unbroken. And now the gem of the home is gone! But those who passed on before exult in what we deplore.

The funeral' was conducted egistered at St. John's church, Bradford, on Wednesday, Oct.-14, and was in charge Fr. P F McCarron
All of her childien were-present.. Those who came from a distance were her niece, Miss Ella Abbott, of Monica, ill; Mrs. Cora Strahora,
of Toulon, HI; .and many sympathizing friends from Castleton and Wyoming.

After the services at the church a long procession wended its way to the new Catholic cemetery where the remains of this dearly beloved one were reverently lowered to calm unbroken rest thruout the long eternity. May God comfort the hearts' crushed beneath their weight of oppression, and may her dear ones so live that they will so gladly lay down
the oross in exchange for a crown resplendent with immortality.
