(age 20), Mary (age 18), Catherine (age 16), William J. (age 14), Thomas J. (age 13), James M. (age 11), Gabriel H. (age 9), Joshua G. (age 7) and Caleb F. (age 1). The 1860 Census shows Hiram F. Adams (age 15) living in Union Township, Hendricks County, Indiana with parents Solomon (age 61) and Nancy (age 49) and siblings Catharine (age 26), William J. (age 24), Thomas I. (age 22), James M. (age 21), Gabriel H. (age 19), Joshua G. (age 17), Caleb F. (age 10) and Solomon T. (age 6).

Solomon Adams had four sons serve in the Civil War - Thomas J., Gabriel H., Joshua G., and Hiram F. Adams. The two latter were in Company I, Ninth Regiment, Indiana Volunteer Cavalry. ... Hiram F. was taken prisoner at Florence, Alabama, and was never after heard from.
