Doris Cox Smithwick, 92, of Albany, GA passed away June 21, 2019 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home. Dr. William E "Butch" Knight will officiate. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Smithwick was born and raised in Camilla GA and moved to Albany when she was eighteen years old. She and her late husband, William Hoyt Smithwick, were married 61 years. Together they established Smithwick' Construction Company, and for 30 years built many commercial buildings throughout the southeastern United States.

Mrs. Smithwick was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Albany and Women in Construction. She and Hoyt loved to travel in their motor home and enjoyed exploring the entire continental United States, including Alaska, and Canada.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Carr, and her beloved dog, Suki. Survivors include her children, Kathy Harsh (Brian) of Lake Blackshear, GA, Susan Dwyer (Douglas) of Atlanta, GA, and Julie Carr (Barry) of Albany, GA; 8 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Clyde Cox, Claude Cox, Ann Tharpe, Mildred Farley, Gladys Fenton, and Savah Eidson.

The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral at Mathews Funeral Home.
