Susannah (Tibbetts) Matthews is the daughter of Benjamin Tibbetts and Sarah (Huestis) Tibbetts. Her father was born in Maine, her mother in New York. After their marriage in 1822 Benjamin and Sarah Tibbetts moved to Dearborn County, Indiana, where Susannah was born in 1824. Several other children were also born in Dearborn County. Benjamin and Sarah Tippetts appear in the 1840, 1850, and 1860 census records in Dearborn County, Indiana. By 1870, the Tibbetts family had moved to Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas. The 1880 Census Mortality Schedule records Benjamin's death in 1879 in Kansas. Their daughter Susannah Tippetts married Daniel Matthews 5 Sep 1841 in Dearborn County, IN. Susannah and Daniel were the parents of nine children. Susannah died in Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, IN in 1911. She was in Lafayette in the hospital, but she was apparently living with one of her children in Boswell, Benton County. Her death certificate states she was buried 17 Mar 1911 in the Boswell Cemetery.
