Edna Mae Campbell, 83, of Hemphill, Texas transended the Earthly Plane at 2am in her home.

She was born in Stuart, Florida to Thomas and Leola Wood Bowman. Edna made her home in Hemphill in 2001 coming here from Longview, Texas.

Active was her name as she was a member and officer of the Garden Club, Recycle Committee, VMW, VFW, and sat on the board of the Rainbow Room. She was known as "the popcorn lady", "the red hat lady", and style show celebrity and it was common to see her picture in the paper.

Mrs. Campbell is survived by two sons: Eddie Sharpless of Northern California and Wayne Sharpless of Hallsville, Texas, three daughters, Jackie Meadors of Fort Worth, Kathy DeKerlegand of Hemphill and Elaine Sharpless of Marshall, Texas, nineteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Jeanette Nolan of Longview and Katherine Fletcher of Lufkin, Texas.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband D.W. Campbell and a son James R. Sharpless.

Memorial services for Edna will be Sunday September 25, 2011 at 1pm at the First United Methodist Church, Hemphill.
