NORMAL — Virginia Turner, 85, Victorville, Calif., formerly of Normal, died March 10, 2019.

There will be a graveside burial service for family and friends at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oak Grove Cemetery, LeRoy.

Born in Bloomington on Jan. 23, 1934, to Arthur "Earl" Bleavins and Helen Sparrow Bleavins. She graduated from Bloomington High School in 1951 and was a bookkeeper until retiring and moving to Apple Valley, Calif. She was a board member for the Senior Club of Apple Valley, treasury secretary and volunteered helping disabled seniors.

Surviving are her three children, Cyndie Thayer, Du Quoin; and Donald Burns and Kathleen (Jim) Pollard, both of Apple Valley, Calif.; her grandchildren, Jason (Christie) Love, Jesse Gibson and Steven (Ashley) Thayer, Madison, Wis.; Jennifer (Jason) Byrd, Minier; Hilary (Randy) Woodard, Kenosha, Wis.; Stephanie (Keeth) Burns, Apple Valley, Calif.; and James Pollard, USN, stationed in Mayport, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Kiera, Dahlia, Jackson and Helena.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marion Turner; her brother, Robert Bleavins; and her twin great-grandsons, Austin and Mason Love.

Virginia was a very caring and compassionate woman and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She embraced her destiny with strength, honor and dignity.
