Elder Ambrose, age 76, was a farmer and a minister, the son of John J. born in KY in 1807, and Malinda (Fugitt) Nickell. In 1853 he married Eleanor Kirk and soon moved to Rowan Co., Ky. In 1857 came to Linn Co MO, locating a few miles east of Purdin. His first wife died. In 1895 he married Julia A. Dinsmore of Marceline MO, who survives. He had 6 children by his first wife.
