ARIMO - LaVon Albiston Bower, 92, of Arimo, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2006 in a local care center.
She was born October 6, 1913 at Hawkins Basin, Idaho, a daughter of John Lorenzo and Sarah Ellen Littlefield Albiston. She grew up at Hawkins Basin and attended the Rattlesnake School there.
LaVon married Alvin "Al" Bower October 1, 1932 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. For several years she and Al worked on various ranches and farms where LaVon worked as a cook for the farmhands. They lived several years in Pocatello and then moved to Arimo in 1962.
LaVon worked at the Marsh Valley High School as a cook until her retirement. LaVon was a skilled seamstress and was known for her beautiful quilts as well as all other handwork, embroidering and crocheting.
She had a wonderful sense of humor, loved being with family and friends and always saw the very best in everyone.
She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in the Relief Society as president, Young Women, Primary, and was a visiting teacher.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Ed) Rhoads of West Valley City, Utah; two grandchildren, Staci Hansen (Alan Bosh), Troy Price (Sherrie) all of Salt Lake City, Utah; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph (Lena) Albiston of Layton, Utah; one sister-in-law, Billie Albiston of Preston, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews, including Rhonda (Jack) Hatley of Arimo, who has given special love and care to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 10 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 31, 2006 at noon in the Arimo LDS Ward Chapel. Burial will follow in the Lava City Cemetery.
