Mehitable Drummond Dow was the eldest daughter of Benjamin and Eunice Berry Drummond. She married John Lindsey Dow on September 23, 1841 in Coles County (the part which later became Cumberland County). They were the parents of nine children: Benjamin F., Abigail R., Francis M., Eunice, Harty, George W., Henry D., Josiah, and Barbara Ann Dow.
