Frances was born June 3, 1917, in Bradshaw to J. C. "Cyril" and Lila Rogers Jones. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1933. She married V. W. "Dick" Cumby March 18, 1933, in Winters and lived most of her life in South Taylor County, moving to Tuscola in 1948. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church. Being the mother of six children, she had a child or a grandchild in the school system from 1941 to 2004 and enjoyed attending all sports events and graduation ceremonies.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband in 1997; and two great-grandsons, Stephen and Joshua Smith.
Survivors include three sons, James Cumby and wife Juanita of Abilene, Tommy Cumby and wife Judy of Ovalo, and Jackie Cumby and wife Pat of Tecumseh; three daughters, Wilda Burnett and husband Charlie of Tuscola, Brenda Smith and husband Mike of Lubbock, and Karen Yost and husband Gene of Ovalo; one sister, Anna Bell Horton of Tuscola; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
