Lois Joyce Berner Mix was the daughter of the late Cecil and Helen Patneaude Berner. She grew up in Colonie, Mont Pleasant and Esperance, she was Schenectady Gazette All City Jacks Champion, played the trumpet with the Mont Pleasant High School marching band and worked at Woolworth's.

Lois graduated from Mont Pleasant High School, class of 1946, and graduated from Albany Medical Center School of Nursing in 1949. She went on to earn a bachelor of science from Union University. She married Dr. Bruce S. Mix in September of 1949. As a registered nurse, Lois worked in private duty, for the Veterans Administration, doctor's offices, Glenridge Hospital, and was an instructor of nursing at Albany Medical Center School of Nursing.

At the time of her passing, she was a member of First Reformed Church of Schenectady, Caduceus Garden Club and numerous bridge clubs. She was past president of Niskayuna Friends of Music; past president of Medical Auxiliary. Her former memberships included 1945 Scotia HS Reunion Committee, 1946 Mont Pleasant HS Reunion Committee, Den Mother of Cub Scout Pack 34, Second Reformed Church, Cotillion, Thursday Singers, volunteer at Proctor's and various positions in her tireless work for the American Cancer Society.

Survived by three children; four grandchildren, Amanda, Stephanie, Michael and Teresa; her sister, Olive Berner of Schenectady, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lois was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Dr. Bruce S. Mix in 1997, and her siblings, Gertrude Brion, Richard Berner, Alice Armitage, and Carol Kochis.
