After an illness of about three weeks, Edith, the thirteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Bilyue, died at 6 o'clock last Thursday evening of peritonitis following appendicitis. The funeral was held a the L.D.S. church, of which she was a member, at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, Elder Paul Craig, of Omaha officiating. She was a bright, sweet spirited girl and her death is a severe blow to her parents and many friends. She was a member of the Freshman class in the high school and her classmates sent a beautiful floral wreath in loving memory.

Notes: The Vig Files at the Danish American Archives has her recorded as being buried in the Blair Cemetery(40-2-9). The Blair Cemetery records do not have a recording of this burial. The following is regarding an infant sibling.

Ellen Scott purchased several graves in Block 40, Lot 2. Many of these are the burial places of Billyues (the double "l" can be seen on the tombstones, and in the Blair Cemetery lists).

The Pilot 5 December 1895

Infant Bilyue

A year and a half old child of Marcus Bilyue, was buried from the family residence near the canning factory. It died from the effects of the prevailing throat disease.

In the Unknowns there are others in 40.2 purchased by Ellen Scott (though not 40.2.9) but Mr. Vig was a detailed chronicler of the day, with few errors. Note: the L.D.S. church was the Latter Day Saints church, or Mormon. There were many Mormons who came to the Council Bluffs/Omaha area. After a large discussion on church leadership, many left for Salt Lake City, but others stayed in Nebraska and Iowa. There were many Mormon families in the DeSoto and Blair, Nebraska areas in Washington County, and today there is a Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints church in Blair (and a Temple in nearby north Omaha)
