Sheldon L. Abbott, 83, Greensburg, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg. Born on April 23, 1936 in Greensburg, he was the son of Chester J. and Flossie (Baugh) Abbott. Sheldon graduated from Greensburg High School in 1955. He joined the Army and served in Panama as a surveyor. He worked for several years at the Moore's Store in Greensburg. He also worked for Union Bank and Trust in Greensburg and Seico Engineering in Columbus before retiring. Sheldon was a sports fanatic. He enjoyed baseball, basketball, bowling, and many other sports. He will be missed by his sister; Carroll Davidson, Greensburg, brother; James Abbott, Columbus, his best friend; Janet Henry, Greensburg, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Sheldon was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Donnie and Bill Abbott. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15 from 11 am to 1 pm at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg followed by Funeral Services at 1:00 pm with Pastor Rick Bell officiating. Burial and military graveside rites will follow at South Park Cemetery. Donations may be made in Sheldons honor to the American Cancer Society.
