Jeanette E. Darnell HANAHAN - Jeanette E. Darnell, 75, of Hanahan, South Carolina passed away October 12, 2017 at Trident Medical Center North Charleston, South Carolina. She was born on August 1, 1942 in Bamberg, South Carolina to the late Charlie and Elizabeth (Smoak) Elkins. Jeanette was a long time dispatcher for a many trucking companies. She left that career and spent the last few years prior to her retirement working for the South Carolina Department of Transportation. When Jeannette was not working, she enjoyed finding treasures and bargain shopping at local thrift stores. She would often find cookbooks that she enjoyed collecting and reading. Jeannette also enjoyed singing; she would say "The Lord said make a joyful noise." which she did. She was known as "Grandma" to friends of the children, church family, and even her pastor. Her world was her grandchildren. Jeannette loved and cherished all the time that she could spend with them. She will be truly missed by those she loved and those that loved her. Jeanette is survived by her daughters: Cynthia Williams, Sandra Parker (John), grandchildren: Heather Nieto (Geovanni), Adam Williams, great grandchildren: CJ, Ricky and Luke that will treasure her memory. She was preceded in death by a son: Charles "Chuck" Darnell, Jr., a granddaughter: Brandi Williams and a grandson: Elijah Gaillard, and a brother: CB Elkins. The family will receive friends at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services, 7475 Peppermill Parkway, N. Charleston SC, 29418 on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 6PM until 8PM. Funeral services will be at Remount Baptist Church, 1520 Remount Road, North Charleston, SC 29406 on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 12 PM with Pastor Joe Traynhan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Plantation Memorial Gardens, 3345 South Live Oak Drive, Moncks Corner SC 29461 following the service.
