WOOD RIVER - Harvey E. Beck, 84, of Wood River, died Tuesday, March 31. Services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery at Grand Island...
Mr. Beck was born March 6, 1903, in Hayes County, Neb., the son of Gustaf and Clara Kuntz Beck. He received his education and grew up there. In October 1932 he married Edna Boehm. They lived in Hayes County until 1947, when they moved to Wood River. Mr. Beck worked on farms and drove trucks, also working for Thelen Grain Co. prior to retirement. He was a member of Eagles Aerie No. 378 in Grand Island.
Survivors include three sons, Ervin of Wood River, and Ron and Lyle, both of Grand Island; a daughter, Doris Elliott of LaVista; a brother, Harlan of Wallace; a sister, Dora Kelly of Carson City, Nev.; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
