LaVonne "Tiny" Montgomery

Cherished mother, grandmother and friend, LaVonne “Tiny” Montgomery has passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 1, 2019.

She was born December 28, 1929 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Cecil and Stephania Lee. LaVonne married the love of her life, Robert E. Montgomery. They were married 43 years. Her life was devoted to God, family, friends and community. Family and friends loved Tiny’s quick wit, gracious attitude, good listening and support of others. She always wanted to be there with family and friends listening, loving and participating in all births, celebrations, weddings, sports, performances and contributing to her community. She enjoyed life sharing her cabin at Maple Lake and times in Chandler Arizona with people she loved. Cooking food enough to share, providing fun times in the boat, campfires, and dancing in the kitchen was her specialty. She was spontaneously fun and had endless energy and love for her kids and many grandkids.

LaVonne Montgomery was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Montgomery; mother and father, Cecil and Stephania Lee; a sister, Bonnie Olderbak; in laws, Earl and Helen Montgomery; sister-in-law, Patricia Roche; brother-in-law, Joseph Sorci; sons, Michael Montgomery and Dan Montgomery; daughter-in-law, Joan Montgomery; son-in-law, Richard Carl; great grandchildren, Bennett Endres, Gwyneth Carl and Isabella Carl.

Survived by daughters, Kathy Carl, Edina, MN, Nancy Endres, Grand Forks, ND; sons, Robert Montgomery (Nita), Bemidji, MN, Tom Montgomery (Michelle), Grand Forks, ND, Scott Montgomery (Kathy), Queen Creek, Arizona; grandchildren: Casey (Jamie) Carl, Matthew (Seri) Carl, Eric (Sarah) Carl, Shannon (Tim)DeMott, Chad (Morganna) Montgomery, Marcus Montgomery, Nicole (David) Cleary, Marissa Montgomery, Kate (Leif) Peterson, Nicole (Steve) Schneider, Jeremy (Amy) Neppl, Jason (Paige) Endres, Shaun (Jackie) Endres, Jason Barett, Michelle Oliff (Rob), Phillip Oliff, Kelsey Montgomery, Karli Montgomery, Tyler (Katie) Montgomery, Josh (Catherine) Montgomery, Alexa (Chase) Calder, Logan Montgomery, Brock Montgomery, Dane Montgomery, Drew Montgomery and many great grandchildren.

The family extends special thanks to the staff of Altru Hospital’s Cardiology Team, Parkwood Place and the special staff of Valley Memorial Hearthstone and Holy Family Church staff and volunteers and Father Paul Kuhn for their gracious love and care given to our mother and family.

Memorial Mass: 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2019 in Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
