Fisher Rudolph Hobbs, a man who was truly a gracious southern gentleman, age 96, of Dexter, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019. Mr. Hobbs was a member of Dexter Assembly of God. He was retired from Robins Air Force Base and farmed after retirement. He served as Deacon for many years at the Dexter Assembly of God.
Mr. Hobbs was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Silas Hobbs, his parents; John T. Hobbs Jr, and Corinne Braswell Hobbs, son in law; Samuel McAlexander Jr., and a sister, Ruby Hobbs Holland.
Survivors include a daughter; Linda Hobbs McAlexander of Charlotte, NC, grandchildren; Robert Forth Jr. (Tandy) of Charlotte, NC, Heather McAlexander Tomchuck (Christopher) of Broomfield, CO, great grandchildren; Sam Tomchuck and Wes Tomchuck.
The family will receive friends at Dexter Baptist Church Thursday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Calvin Halcomb, Rev. Brad Nowell and Rev. Larry Waldrep will officiate.
Ricky Mullis, Ricky Hobbs, Jeffrey Hobbs, Bobby Lawhorn, Ray Thomas, Jeffrey Dominy, and DeWitt Moses will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Serenity Hospice or to the Dexter Assembly of God Building Fund.
