He was born January 18, 1900, in Pine Grove Furnace, son of the late Robert D. and Grace A. (Grimes) Stover.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hershey, the Men's Bible Class, and had served as a Sunday School teacher and on the board of trustees.
He was also a charter member of both the Hershey Country Club and the Hershey Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow.
At age 14, Mr. Stover began his career in the mail room of the Hershey Chocolate Corp., then became the purchasing agent for the former Hershey Estates (now HERCO), was the founder and president of Stover Candies, Inc., in Hershey, later renamed King Kup Candies, Inc.
Following the sale of the candy business, Mr. Stover sold petroleum tanker trucks for 20 years and ended his career as an independent sales contractor for business forms companies.
Mr. Stover was the last living person who worked directly with Milton S. Hershey on a personal basis and was interviewed a number of times for use in several nationally televised programs about Hershey.
Surviving is 3 sons, Glenn A. Stover and his wife, Dolores of Warminster, James M. Stover and his wife, Della of Hershey, and Ronald C. Stover and his wife, Shirley of Hershey; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian C. Stover, a daughter, Janice Rehkamp, and a grandson, Jack Stover.
Services will be held Saturday, August 30, 2003, at 11 a.m., in the First United Methodist Church, Hershey.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Friday, in Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Hershey. Interment will be in the Hershey Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made to the First United Methodist Church, 64 W. Chocolate Avenue, Hershey, PA 17033.
