Jerry Arthur Armfield was born in Oak Grove, Louisiana on July 21st, 1944 and was the only child to Dillard Christopher Armfield and wife Lois Huffman Armfield.

The majority of his childhood was spent visiting with his many cousins, and he loved fishing with family and friends on the banks of Bartholomew and the Macon as a kid. In his school years he attended Cherry Ridge Elem., Southside Elem., Oak Hill Elem., and both Bastrop Jr. and Sr. High.

Jerry was a member of the Morehouse CB Club for over 10 years. His true passion for most of his life was working on anything/everything with an engine. Throughout the years his most loved hobbies included everything from drag racing at Harmon Raceway in the 60's, building and riding dirt bikes and motorcycles with friends and family well into the 80's, as well as wood whittling and squirrel/dove hunting.

He worked as a mechanic for over 35 years in the Bastrop area, and was well known as one of, if not the best, front-end technicians in North Louisiana. He was also a truck driver for almost 15 years.

Jerry and his wife, Julia Arlene Deer, were married for 51 years and had 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, all of which he adored.

He enjoyed life, always had a great sense of humor and knew how to tell some "tall tales". He absolutely never met a stranger.

Jerry's memorial service was held with his loved ones on Friday, June 7, 2019 at Golden Funeral Home, and officiated by Rev. Newton Smith, and laid to rest at Carter Cemetery.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dillard and Lois Armfield and daughter, Kelli Armfield.
