From a newspaper clipping on file with the Gray Historical Society, Obituaries Collection [no date/source]:
Miss G. Lowell, whose death was lately announced, was a member of one of the old Portland families, a daughter of Capt. William Lowell, one of the old time shipmasters of Portland, engaged in the West India trade. For many years she kept a private school with her sister Annie and Ellen, who were well-known teachers. Her sister, Harriet, married the late Joseph R. Brazier, one of whose daughters is the wife of Mr. Payson Tucker.

Isabelle was employed a few years ago at the Register of Deeds office. She was a person of a very lovely character and leaves many friends by whom she was much beloved. The funeral services yesterday were conducted by Rev. Dr. Merrill of the Second Parish church. There was a large attendance of her friends. The duets were sung by Mrs. Chase and Mrs. Farley, "One by One" and "Sister thou was mild and lovely."
