WILLIAM RITENOUR
142ND PA VOL Infantry ... William was wounded in the left thigh by a minnie ball on the courthouse steps in Gettysburg. Enrolled in Civil War at Connellsville, PA on August 13, 1862. Co. H 142 PA Infantry. Mustered in as a Private in Harrisburg, PA on August 26, 1862 at age 22. He was wounded on July 1, 1863, in General Hospital at Musterout, May 29, 1865. His name appears on the Pennsylvania Monument in Gettysburg as William Ridenour. GAR star marker on his grave. He died in Vanderbilt, PA

William Ritenour, 76 years old, died Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jarrett Colbert at Vanderbilt. Funeral on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Church of God in East Liberty. Interment in Dickerson Run Union cemetery. Deceased was born September 21, 1841, and on June 26, 1860 he was married to Eliza Grimm, whose death occurred September 6, 1908. Mr. Ritenour is survived by the following children: Mrs. Jarrett Colbert, Jerry, Harry and George Ritenour, all of Vanderbilt; Mrs. John Ritenour of Star Junction, and Mrs. Zack Sullenberger of Acme. Forty-six grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren also survive.
