Thomas was born in Tennessee. His parents (William Crosby and Jane Robertson)were in Hawkins Co., TN in the 1830 census, but moved to West Tennessee by 1836 in Henderson County. Therefore we do not know which county Thomas was born in. Thomas was living in Gibson County TN with his parents in the 1850 Census. On November 23, 1854 Thomas married Elizabeth McMinn West in Gibson County TN. Elizabeth had three children from her previous marriage to Wiley W. West (M Aug 09, 1847 in Gibson Co., TN). Those three children were Mary, Sarah, and William C. When Thomas married Elizabeth they had 6 additional children; Henery F., Samuel B., Nancy "Lue" S., William, Robert George, & Benjamin. Thomas was a farmer and continued to farm in Gibson County till at least 1880. Sometime after 1880 and his death in 1899, Thomas, Elizabeth, and some of their children moved to Texas. One would ask, why they made such a long move so late in life? The answer is that many families in this area of West Tennessee moved west in the late 1800's because of the severe economic depression in the area following the civil war. This depression lasted until after 1900. After Thomas died, his wife Elizabeth died and was buried in Erick, Beckham Co., OK on December 10, 1902. It is interesting that even though Thomas and Elizabeth are buried in different states, their stones are the exact same design.
