LYNN MARINE KILLED IN VIETNAM
**********************************************
A Lynn marine who served in Vietnam only one month has been killed by enemy fire in Quang Nam Province.

Pfc. John J. Mailloux, 19, 187 Walnut St., was killed Sunday, according to notification received by his mother, Mrs. Alice C. (Dion) Mailloux. He died of "gunshot wounds from hostile rifle shots while on operation," one month to the day after arriving in Vietnam.

John enlisted in the Marine Corps last April and was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Division.

A lifelong resident, he was educated in Lynn schools and attended Trade High.

He also leaves a brother, Thomas J. Mailloux; three sisters Carol, Patricia, and Maureen Mailloux; and an aunt, Mrs. Mary E. Dow. All are of Lynn. He was the son of the late Joseph L. Mailloux.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

On 24 November 1968 2nd Bn, 7th Marines, were engaged in Operation MEADE RIVER in the "Dodge City" area south of Danang. Six men were killed in action that day:
